Hello,

I just purchased a Hauppage Wintv-PVR-USB2.

When trying to install it I have the following problem:

1. I execute the "wintv6_cd_4.6b.exe" downloaded from hauppage. (I also tried several versions of the drivers and wintv - can anyone point me to the latest just to make sure?)
- When I select Step 1 - Install drivers:
- A screen appears showing - Searching for hardware and updating drivers
Then after several driver names pass by, a message appears - Drivers
have not been updated. Compatible hardware not found

I have connected the hardware to a usb2 port, to the tv cable and to
the power source.

I now it's not gbpvr related, I havent gotten there yet, but can anyone help please? I tried other versions of the software, the one
on the cd that came with the hardware, and others I got from the
internet.

Thanks,
Pedro Fradique.

Thanks,

Allready tried that one.
Does anyone know of a test to make sure the pvr-usb2 is working correctly, besides attaching to a different computer to try it out.
I purchased the MCE version, can it be it only works with windows mce?
Thanks for your replies,
Pedro.

I don't know of any way to test without drivers installed.

You could try ...

Run hcwclear.exe (which should be in one of the downloads) and try the driver install again.
Try another computer.
Try a post on hauppauge.co.uk forum (they replies are usually quick and helpful).
But, if the drivers won't install, it smells like a broken device that will need to be returned and replaced.

Edit: I have never heard of driver problems due to MCE versus not-MCE.

At the very least, Windows should pop up a balloon noting that a new device is available when you plug the tuner into the USB port, even before the drivers are installed. It should also show up under USB devices in Device Manager. If it doesn't show up in either place, then the device or your USB port are defective. Sad

Hi everyone,

Thanks a lot for the help.
When I connect the pvr2, windows shows me the new hardware wizard.
But when I tell it to get the driver from either the cd that came with pvr2 or any of the multiple downloads I have by now, it allways tells me he didnt find the driver for the device, so it appears as a usb device with a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager.
I dont have another computer to try it on, so I guess it's to the store monday, hope they have a replacement, because it's really hard to find...

Thanks a lot everyone,
Pedro.

Apologies if you have already done this ...

Running the .exe for the cd 1.2 install unpacks the content of the .exe into a bunch of folders. You should be able to cancel the exe after it unpacks. There should be a hcwdriverinstall.exe in the top folder of the unpack. Did you try running this?

Hi Graham,

Thanks, I already tried that.
Also, I now tried it in another Pc and the result was the same. Back to the store on Monday.
Thanks,
Pedro.
