WinTv7 transcodes only in PAL? Is it possible to change it the NTSC?

Hi everyone,

I have the HVR-1600 and the MediaMVP, and I used the WinTv5 for all my analog cable recordings. However, I was reading the article that the WinTv7 has fixed all the bugs for the digital broadcasting. So I installed it and what do you know it works!!!! I can record into .ts format and transcode into .mpg format but when I try to view the .mpg files on MediaMVP I get “PAL Video not supported on NTSC Display”. I know it’s my TV’s limitation so I was wondering if it is possible to change it to transcode into NTSC so I can play the content on the MVP.

That is a transcoding error. If you are using GBPVR to transcode on-the-fly and play, upload your logs. The GBPVR default for ts to mpg doesn't work in North America, and it is a challenge even for SD because of the AC3 audio.

How about not on the fly, can use somthing else that will convert to NTSC for the MVP.

I use ffmpeg to transcode recordings taken from a Hauppauge HVR-2250. I then watch these on the MVP. It does take some time though, it won't work on the fly. You need to wait for the transcoding to end (which there is no great way to tell when that is just through the MVP).

Below is the link to the method I used to keep track of the digital vs analog recordings and the batch files to transcode the files properly. GBPVR uses these and all the files get transcoded automagically.
