In the example I posted, you'll notice that the first screen cap (using color coding) shows the first 8 channels but doesn't show a single one with Movies while the second screen cap shows the same number of channels but they are only the movies and times without movies are blank
An advantage of seeing the category of shows in a grid rather than a list is that it is immediately clear which ones overlap. Assuming you only have a finite number of capture cards, knowing where the overlaps occur is useful.
I don't disagree with the list of shows in a category as an option. It lets you see further ahead in time for the category you are interested in.
I vote for both options. I'd even like to see an option to display in a grid only the shows to be recorded. I've implemented this in a desktop app (which grabs the information from the GBPVR SQLite database) I use and it is very useful. It also shows for each show in the grid to be recorded, which capture card will be used and the amount of pre and post padding.
