What a simple solution !!! This works great for me -- now I'll need to buy a USB stick before my wife figures out her camera card is missing ;-)

Thanks for all the help !

When everything goes right, installing from a share can be easier, you don't even have to move a USB drive. Unfortunately MS has made sharing more of a chore than it should be.

Here's one more thing to try if you don't want to give up.

Martin,

I've been successfully using the memory stick to run GBPVR from my A110 for almost a year, awesome. Thinking that NPVR is ready and planning an upgrade. Would love to have this working from my share first. Noticed that you created a syntax check...

That's all.... almost like its a firewall problem but I turn off my windows firewall and same problem occurs. Any ideas? If you need logs, just let me know what files to send.

thanks.

Welcome back to this. Before doing anything you still need to add the share. Do you have Windows Live Assist installed? If you do, could you uninstall it if you aren't using it? I have also read that Windows Live Essentials 2011 causes the same problems.

Note that this is not technically a Windows problem, it is a bug in Samba which many linux distro's and all media extenders are having troubles with.

do you mean Microsoft "Easy Assist" or "Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant". I didn't purposely install either but the later may have been installed by an automatic windows update. In that case, everyone would be having this problem

I think it is the latter, and yes a lot of people have this problem but it was only optional and it doesn't sound like something I'd want by default anyway

Ok, I got rid of Windows Live sign-in assisstant. Rebooted. Reran NMTInstall to recreate the share, ran NMTCheck and same results...

You still have to add the mvpmc share on the NMT side, which I think was your original problem. Did removing Live Assist help?
