OK, I'm at my wit's end. First day ever with a TV card and PVGBR, so total newbie.
I've just spent way too long (the last 7 hours!) trying to get this thing working, and would really appreciate anybody willing to help me through this :o

ATM, I'm stuck on having video, but no sound on LiveTV.

Here's my setup:
UHF rooftop aerial pointing to Mt KauKau, Wellington, NZ; Hauppauge HVR-4000 (Freeview/DVB-T only atm);
WinXP sp3; AMD 4000+; GeForce 8600GT; All latest drivers; SPDIF out;

My existing video library is in XVid(Handbrake encoded) and h.264(Nero-encoded) SD format, mostly in MP4 and AVI containers. I've always used VLC for playback, so no codecs installed on my system prior to GBPVR.

This evening, along the way, I've installed:
Latest HVR4000 drivers and WinTV7.
Latest GBPVR.
Haali Media Splitter & FFDShow (needed both so my vids would play in WMP)
Cyberlink PowerDVD 7
MPV Decoder
AC3Filter
Mpeg2DecFilter.ax
mmaacd.ax (Morgan AAC decoder)

I've recorded a program with GBPVR and it saved as a .TS file. This plays back fine in VLC and the audio plays back fine.

Most of the receiving channels appear to be in h.264 format with VLC telling me that the audio for that saved .TS file was mp4a at 48000Hz with an AAC extension of SBR.

So I think the missing link is in the audio codec settings somewhere, but I can't seem to find the right combination. I don't really know what I'm doing and it's hit and miss. But all miss, so far.

I don't get any sound OR video, in Hauppauge's WinTV application.

Any suggestions? Smile

Excellent explanation there Peter unfortunatly I am not good enough to help with your problem although I have one suggestion....
I see you installed the MPV codec, but since your GB-PVR problem is with audio - have you installed the MPA codec too?

It'll be a case of not having an HE-AAC decoder on your machine.

Install and select this one: http://blog.monogram.sk/janos/2009/03/08...oder-0960/

Hii mmaacd is normally the filename for the monogram decoder, but get the one that one points you to, and make sure you have it selected in the configuration application under playback (advanced codecs on the bottom)

Thanks Guys, that solved that one.
I actually had downloaded mmaacd.ax and put it in the WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 folder, but since it wasn't showing up as an option in the HE-AAC DECODER dropdown options in the PLAYBACK tab of Config, I guessed that I may have either missed or mispelt something when I thought I'd registered it. Once I did...

START > Run > regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\mmaacd.ax

...it showed up in the dropdown options, and once selected, I finally got some sound! Smile

So please consider this thread solved.

Now onto my next problems: 1) Changing channels taking at least 3 seconds 2) Video freezing, or not even appearing, after a channel change - particularly on HD channels.
Both of these I'll open a separate thread for.

Thanks for your quick responses everyone. Smile
