Been using GB-PVR for a while and love it. The only shortcoming is that the packaged DVD plugin doesn't quite suite my needs for navigation. I need to be able to skip titles, etc. Because of this, I was thinking of developing my own little plug in to handle this.

I noticed a playDVD function in the plugin helpers, but is there a way that my plugin can control the navigation? Or maybe better put, can my application take input from the remote or keyboard and forward this on to the DVD Navigator filter?

Thanks,

Have you seen the skip by chapter option in the config app?

Yes I have.
I currently have it turned off because I often use the skip by # of minutes feature. However, even if it were on, it wouldn't solve my problem. I need to be able to skip titles. I understand that I can skip minutes or chapters to the end of the current title and let it move on to the next, but this is not very useful if you have 20 titles and you need to get to title 20.

I also have a problem with some older dics that I authored myself. Apparently, I did not have a command in there to automatically play title 1 upon the disc starting. Every standalone player I've ever used (and most software players) will automatically jump to title 1 if nothing else is instructed. However, the DVD Navigator appears to be quite happy to just sit there and do nothing. In MPC-HC, I can choose Navigate->Title->Title 1 and all is fine. But in GB-PVR, there is no way to jump to title 1.

Thanks,

Check the DVD section:

Isn't that still just chapter skipping though? The OP is looking to skip through titles.

Humm... Right you are. I misread it. Not sure if that's possible then...

hmmm, that's what the menus on dvd's are for...quick selection of titles...

or if you author them yourself, make 1 chapter per title, then chapter skipping would also title skip..Smile

personally i thought it would be better to have chapter or time skip on short skip buttons, and title skip on next/previous...or maybe even channel up/dn as they aren't used in dvd..

I realize it's not possible to do title skips with the existing DVD navigation. That's why I'm wondering if it was possible to write my own navigation plug-in to control the DVD feature, or even to write my own DVD plugin that would create the filter graphs to play the DVD and handle navigation myself.

Thanks,

It wouldnt be possible using the plugin helper's PlayDVD() function, since no navigation features are available to the plugin, but you could roll your own if you wanted to (creating your own graphs etc).
