The HDHR's at one time were the thought of best simply because of the lack of competition (especially for linux MythTV and MCE) With dual analog/digital models available now from Hauppauge like the HPVR 2250 for around $130 CDN why would anyone want an HDHR single or dual? I was thinking maybe to avoid a long antenna run, but you still need the network and power adapter. This isn't rhetorical I am serious.

I've found my HDHR to be much more dependable than my 2250 but I do admit I like most of what I've used from Hauppauge.
Off the subject somewhat, I wonder why Silicon is so late with their cable card beta and why they are having such a hard time of communicating what's going on with it. Just a simple "quit asking" would do but maybe that's just what they are doing.

We don't have the choice for cable card here but each month I've seen the number of 5c channels increased, there maybe are 3 channels out of 800 that I could record. Really for PC users cable card means 7MC because of DRM.

I started testing cablecards for MS in 2006 and have had 2 in use since then (Vista). But, as much as I like it, I still like the simplicity of using the standard tuners. I get the best of both worlds.

You can split a signal only so much. If you have your Server coming off the same cable feed as a cable modem & you have multiple tuner cards & a Tv & a cable box & a DTA, it might be nice to be able to stick the HDHR in a different room being fed off a different cable drop. I don't have an HDHR, but I could see only needing an ethernet connection to a room with an unused cable drop being advantageous.
