Hi.

I have just started trying to get nPVR going and have run into a few problems. I am runing Windows 7 ultimate and have been using media center due to issues with getting GBPVR to work with codecs. I thought i'd start trying to get it to work with nPVR.

I have setup live tv and that all works well and I can watch (and listen). However when I try to watch a recording I get a blank screen and no audio.

I can't play h264 encoded videos. I can play them in Windows Media Player or Media Center but when I try to open them the screen flashes and nothing else happens.

I've set the video render to EVR and MPEG2, H.264, MPEG1 Audio and AC3 "Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder". I've set HE-ACC to MonoGram AAC Decoder. These seem to all make the live TV work.

Any idea hot to fix these? I've attached my log file.

Thanks
Roger

NPVR doesnt know anything about .m4v files, so it just askes Windows to play them. There is no NPVR settings that would effect this, so you'll need to fiddle outside of NPVR to find a fix for this. As first step for diagnosing this, I'd download GraphEdit, run it and select the 'render media file' menu option, then select your .m4v file. It'll most likely give you some erro message.

Also, the "Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder" decoder cant be used for AC3 audio outside of Media Center, so I'd select some other decoder for AC3.

The AC3-filter works great for AC3 sound in npvr, and it's free.

Thanks very much. I loaded the Windows 7 Codec pack and that fixed all the codec problems and I can now play all my files.
