Please Allow Data DIrectory to be opn Another Drive

I just upgraded from version 1.5.19 to 1.5. 21. I was hoping to be able to specify that the DATA directory would be able to be installed on a drive other than c:.

I have found that the data files get fragmented during the course of a day when they are on the c: drive. I want to put them on a different drive that doesn't have the frantic activity that exists, and consequently causes files on the c: drive to become quite fragmented just because of all the small holes left in the c: drive from normal Windows activity.

Please consider allowing us to install the DATA directories where we want during installation in a future release of NPVR.

It's already allowed, just set the paths in the registry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NPVR] as you wish.

That registry key was mentioned when NPVR first came out. I couldn't find it on my Windows 7 x64 machine then and I can't find it now after I installed the update to NPVR. When I installed NPVR 1.5.19 I let it install in the default location and when I installed version 1.5.21 I overrode the install directory to d:\programs\npvr.

Why doesn't my registry show any keys for NPVR?

Because you are probably running 64 bit and don't understand the 32bit registry settings are in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\

If/When the NPVR wiki starts up, this should be something in it. I'm still chugging along with 32-bit XP, so I wouldn't have known this either...
