Hi Guys

Just found this on another site..

The DiSEqC issue seems to be caused by a Dynamic Current Limiting (DCL) protection of Hauppauge cards, as you can read here:

http://www.hauppauge...ead.php?t=15203

DCL can be switched off in the Registry. However, this entails the danger of damaging your hardware in case of short-circuit (if the inner conductor of your antenna cable touches the shielding). Only apply this fix, if you really need it. After applying it you must avoid a short-circuit by all means. Shut your PC down and disconnect it from the power supply before connecting/disconnecting the antenna cable!

Here is the meaning of different values in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HCW88BDA\Parameters\LNBVoltage_Ctrl

as far as investigated up to now. They apply to Hauppauge Nova S Plus, Hauppauge Nova S2 HD and Hauppauge HVR 4000 cards. Please note: A change requires rebooting your PC.

LNBVoltage_Ctrl | vertical | horizontal | card unused | Dynamic Current Limiting

0 ......................... 13,8 V ...... 18,8 V ........ 0 V .................... on

1 ......................... 13,8 V ...... 18,8 V ........ 0 V .................... off

2 ......................... 12,8 V ...... 17,8 V ........ 0 V .................... on

3 ......................... 12,8 V ...... 17,8 V ........ 0 V .................... off

4 ......................... 13,8 V ...... 18,8 V ........ 12,8 V ............... on

5 ......................... 13,8 V ...... 18,8 V ........ 12,8 V ............... off

6 ......................... 12,8 V ...... 17,8 V ........ 12,8 V................ on

7 ......................... 12,8 V ...... 17,8 V ........ 12,8 V................ off

LNBVoltage_Ctrl bit by bit:

- Bit 0 set: Switches DCL off.

- Bit 1 set: Lowers the LNB voltage by 1 V

- Bit 2 set: Supplies the LNB with power, even if the card is not used.

Has anyone tried these registry changes?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Peter

Hi Guys

Is anyone out there using a Gecen GD-41A Diseqc Switch, with a Hauppauge Nova-S plus card and 11300 lnb's.

I am desperate for some ideas on how to get this to work, or if I need a different Switch, and which one I need to get.

Any help appreciated

Cheers

I have been using a nova s plus (or a nova se prior to that) for years with a diseqc switch. I have two sat positions (A/B) with H/V and lo/hi band selection. It works just fine. My diseqc commands look like yours. I don't quite know why they do look that way, and I have to agree that I would rather expect any changes in the third byte, but why bother - it works. I have never had to do any registry tweaking.
I do however use quality switches from spaun - which is quite likely not available in your part of the globe. I own and use a 9/8 switch and also have been using a 2/1 diseqc switch. And can't say anything on the Gecen products. I have had a problem with a no-name diseqc part before and have stayed away from that ever since because I cost me quite a bit of hair. You may want to try a different switch manufacturer, which may or may not make a difference.

My settings in config are A/B for position and 11700 for LOF switch (doesnt apply in your case). If it doesnt work with the hauppauge winTV sw, it doesnt sound like it's a sw problem.
