Hauppage 1800 s-video question

I managed to get s-video working in pvrx2 with this card... There seem to be less options with NPVR although it is WAY easier to setup now. Anyways I was wondering if anyone could help a noob out? I got it to find all my regular channels, just not the s-video input.

When you import you channels, there was an drop down list at the top of the screen to select the input (tuner, composite, svideo etc). You cant change them after they're created though, so you'll need to delete the channels and reimport them if you failed to set the correct input.

Um... I didnt import anything, I just did the thing where it scans for channels...

edit: also, it seems to be seeing two tuner cards, one for atsc and one for qam... Though they are both hauppauge 845 or something not the 1800

the atsc one is the one that finds all the ota channels and the qam one I am assuming is for regular cable... I get the OTA channels just fine and I dont have regular cable plugged in.
Neither device has a setting to change to S-Video...

I remember from pvrx2 that the s-video set up was set up like a new input source and it took some playing around with to make it a channel I could change to.

Ah, thats you're problem then. You can only scan on a digital capture source. You need to go into the analog capture source and import the channels.

If you can see an analog capture source listed, then install the Hauppauge WinTV software on your machine and it'll show up. It uses the 'MainConcept (HCW) MPEG Multiplexer-Plus' component from the Hauppauge software.

lol - careful what you say, I wrote the new WinTV7 application for them.

If you copy the 'C:\Program Files\WinTV\WinTV7\SoftPVR' directory from a working machine, then register the *.ax files, then you should be good to go.

Well, I just had to order the new CD from their site. I cant find my old one. Im thinking I will install it and copy the files you said to then uninstall it? And for what its worth, I used WinTV way before version 7 so... well, the software that I have seen from you is certainly NOT crap.

Will installing this software help NPVR to correctly identify my card? It works great for the atsc with the wrong model number but Im just wondering?

It should already work fine for ATSC or QAM. Having the Hauppauge components installed will get the analog side of things working.
