Can't find channels

So this is my first go at a media center. I haven't got all the lingo down but i am computer hardware savvy so i thought id give this a try. Here is the issue i am having:

I recently installed a new build with a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600 ATSC/ClearQAM/NTSC TV Tuner. I currently have WOW digital cable with a box. I ran the coax cable to one of the tuners that are on that card and ran through the initial setup guide for DVB . Once i setup that i scan channels and nothing is found.

I know this is probably a trivial problem but like i said i am new to the whole cable through the computer concept. Thanks for your help

Hi flodog, as you are posting in the GB-PVR thread I recommend you start over with NPVR, it's beta, but it scans much better. Before you do a scan, note that the HVR 1600 has 3 tuners, but only NTSC and either ATSC or QAM can be active together.

Assuming you are trying to scan QAM, make sure that the cable is plugged into the lower jack on the back. If you have done all that did you try scanning with Hauppauge's WinTV program and did it find channels?
