Sub,

I was really hoping that the new beta 1.5.28 would rectify the problems I am having with the 2nd instance of LiveTV or recordings. Reference my last post at http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...s-Programs

But the same problems appear in the new version on my system. I believe the problems are related, and since it is easier to test and recover from failures in LiveTV this is where I am focusing my efforts. Just to review, I am using an HDHR configured as ATSC/OTA and I have completely reinstalled my Windows 7 Ultimate system from scratch.

The first time I run LiveTV everything runs perfectly. If I escape out and then go back into LiveTV, I always get the message "Failed to communicate with recording service" even though the recording service is still running. If I try a third time, I get the message "Failed to start stream". If I restart the recording service, then LiveTV works again (but only once). I have attached my log files and was hoping you would have a minute to look at them.

The first instance of LiveTV in the logs looks like this:

Code:

I found a post that included an update to Nextpvr.exe to include more logging information and have included logs while running this version. The NPVR log file now contains the following when starting LiveTV the 2nd time.

Code:
2010-08-09 12:38:41.133    [DEBUG][1]    StartLiveTV@1
2010-08-09 12:38:41.133    [DEBUG][1]    StartLiveTV@2
2010-08-09 12:38:41.133    [DEBUG][1]    StartLiveTV@3
2010-08-09 12:38:41.133    [DEBUG][1]    StartLiveTV@4
2010-08-09 12:38:41.200    [ERROR][1]    Unexpected error calling StartStream(): System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

Unfortunately I've got no idea at this stage. It seems to be HDHomeRun specific though.

Did the log in my first post look correct? Just wondering because it did not show the tuning statements

Just curious - is there anyone that has successfully switched over to Npvr using a dual tuner HDHR in ATSC-OTA mode under Windows 7?

I did look at it. It can be normal not to see tuning information for different channels if they're on the same physical channel.

That's why I thought it might provide a clue - the stations in question were not on the same physical channel.

Yesterday I received the new HDHR that I ordered from woot, installed and configured the new device in NPVR, held my breath, and tried to watch LiveTV two times in a row. Alas, no luck, same problems. It appears (at least for me) that it is time to go back to GbPvr. The wife will be very happy because with the additional HDHR she now has 4 tuners!

I would still be interested to find out if anyone else has had any success using Npvr with the HDHR in ATSC/OTA configuration under Windows 7. I definitely have not given up, but just taking a rest. Sub, if there is anything I can do to help narrow this down, please let me know. I made an image of the system with Acronis and can restore it at anytime. Once again, I appreciate all the help from you and whurlston in trying to figure this thing out.
