Anybody any experience of upgrading from a PVR-150 to a later card such as HVR-2200? I record an analog source (STB) over s-video and am never happy with the quality of the picture (ghosting on peoples faces etc. - can never be fully remove even with video card tuning).
I was thinking of upgrading to one of the later cards (also allows me to consolidate DVB card) and was interested to know if anybody had seen improvements in video recording quality. I have read that the 3D comb filter is a lot better (ie. not broken) on these later cards but I think that only affects composite not s-video connections. Thanks.

the 150 can be adjusted for those quality aspects with hauppauge tweaker or just modifying the registry values..
or an easy way, open graphedit and insert 150 capture filter, and adjust it's properties...
in there you'll find the filtering that's creating the 'ghosting' and can turn it off, among other things..
[i used to just turn all filtering down to 1, still on but just barely, completely off looked worse to me]
temporal filtering is what creates the ghosting, spatial is blur..

sometimes easiest tweak is to just adjust sharpness in direct.ini at top..Smile

Thanks pBS, had a play and it has improved picture a lot by reducing the temporal filtering. Ended up using the tweak tool as was having problems with the settings being saved in Win7. When looking in Graphedit it seemed the settings were in the encoder filter rather than the capture filter. Will have a look at the sharpness as well when I get some more time.
