Sorry, searched and could not find the answer. Currently I can only get the pvr to record in 9mb mode meaning a 30 minute show at 720p is about 1gb. At higher res say 1080, it is much larger like 12mb or 1.3gb for half hour. I would like to try to compress my recordings to see if I can record some at a lower level instead of recording them, then re-encoding to save space. Currently, I take a 720p recording and re-encode to mkv of say 640 or 720p at about 220mb for 640 or 350 for 720p. But that requires running handbrake and re-encoding. I can set the recording speed using Total Media Extreme for manual recordings, but not for NPVR. I found an old thread that said to edit analogHD.ini, but that doesn't exist, so maybe that was in gbpvr instead.

I looked in config and found some settings but didn't want to mess with them until I heard what I could play with and not. Should I set the config.xml file to change the bitrate? I am sure other users are doing this, but I can't find out how. Please help if you know how. Thanks in advance.

oops and part two. I have my setup so that it will automatically rename files with episode number and name. But this only happens after guide update. Isn't there a way to force it to update? My logs show that it is having trouble with an episode of it's always sunny in philadelphia and I am trying to see if I can resolve it, but need to force it to try to rename that show to get it to work and cannot remember how to do that.

Yes, you can change the bitrate used for HDPVR in the config.xml in the <HDPVR> section. Backup the file before you edit it though. It has a separate bitrate for each mode: 1080i/720p/SD.

This isn't natively supported by NextPVR, what tool are you using?

worked great, tried a recording at 3.5 mb (obviously for archive stuff, not anywhere near as pretty as 9mb, but it worked great. Used videoredo to cut commercials out and then mkvtools to convert to mkv, resulting in 190 mb file, which is fine for what I am looking for. Now to find the exact right setting, but great to be able to control.

On to the file renaming question. I tried a few things but cannot find the one that reruns the naming to troubleshoot. The logs say that episode is not found (but I think that is because it is a two part episode) but cannot play with it until I know how to rerun the file renamer.

What I am using is part of the problem. I set everything up about 4 months ago and cannot remember which exact way that I get the renaming done. I know I have searchlite and tv listings installed and xmltvextras and when I first set it up, I had to run a command to rename the shows I already had recorded. But recently, renaming is missing a few shows that I think it should get, but can't remember how to manually run it to test out why. I looked in my bat files and have xmltv and imagegrablite running after update. I think imagegrablite might be what renames, but honestly cannot remember.

Yes that sound right. I had a check and the last two episode of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" wouldn't have matched because at theTVDB they have the episode names with a (1) and (2) which seem unnecessary to me.

S07, E12 The High School Reunion (1)
S07, E13 The High School Reunion Part 2: The Gang's Revenge (2)

In the future imageGrabLite will be able this a bit better because it will also use the "First Aired" date.

To rerun you would need the "oid" and you run it with the command line options shown as the first line of imageGrabLite.log I would have been available when you recorded it as shown here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post421247
