I think "subtitles" means different things to different people. This works for me with Schedules Direct in the U.S., but if you are using a 64-bit OS, be sure to see the difference in the .bat file.

@sub - if you were thinking of adding an option to include the show subtitle in the file name, that would be really welcomed. I have a very complicated batch file that does that in postprocessing, but it was an awful lot of work and there are special cases where it causes a problem that I've not been able to figure out a solution for. it'd be oh so much easier if npvr just did it from the start.

in fact given that the shows are always arranged in folders named for the show title, I'd like an option to use just the subtitle + timestamp for the file name; of course it would have to fail back to using the title for shows the lack subtitle info. either way though, anything that includes the subtitle would be a major improvement.

Are they though? There's a config setting - AutoCreateFolders - that might be related to this (I haven't confirmed that though).

Something like the batch file would work, however I'd prefer it to work in the program itself, as that seems overly complicated for what (seems to be) a simple program adjustment.

presumably one would not choose the option (if it were available) of naming shows with just the subtitle+timestamp if they had AutoCreateFolders set to false. just because some option is available it doesn't mean every possible combination of options chosen will have a sensible result.
