Advice on which TV card to buy?

Hi all,

Please excuse me for asking this but I have had a brief look around and cannot find anything specific to my situation.

I have just put together a HTPC.

Intel motherboard DG45FC, Intel dual Core 8400, 4Gb Ram, Blu-ray drive and running Windows 7 Professional 64.

I am looking for advise on which TV card to put into this. I am in New Zealand and currently only have analog and Freeview Teresteral. I mite in the future like to have a play around with satalite TV not sky and also use for getting some of my annalog movies etc into digital.

The slot is PCI-e 1 and will need to be half height because of case. (Mini skeleton)

I have looked at the Haupauge ones but there seems to be some confussion re model numbers for which country etc.

Any sujestions as to which way to go would be much appreciated.

Not sure for satelite but for DVB-t I usually find USB tuners more sensitive than slot mounted, plus easier to mix and match with multiple tv sources vs 1 expensive single card.

Hauppauge Nova-t USB & Pinnacle PCTV USB tuners both seem popular DVB-T options and are available very cheaply.

I have the Nova-t, but had problems with getting 2 of them to work properly at the same time.

you will need a third tuner to capture all stations on freeview as prime is on its own frequency
so you could either buy 2xhvr2200
or
buy 3 usb tuners wintv-nova-t (I am not a great fan of usb tuners and have not tried dvb-t on usb)

(personally i record dvb-s ,you only need two tuners to record all freeview stations and the files are smaller)

that motherboard really limits your choices
usb may be your only option to be able to record everything
