In the UK shows such as Mad Men have moved from the BBC to Sky Atlantic with all the associated adverts that ruin the playback of the programme.

I have a DVB S2 card on my PC and a subscription to Sky HD. Is it possible with additional hardware and software to record the Sky programs using NPVR so that the adverts can be removed.

Thanks for your assistance.

Yes you can but it's not simple.
My setup is
Windows 7 ultimate
Hauppage Nova-s2
Npvr (of course)
Mdapifilter
Hadu cccam client
I have CCcam server running in a Ubuntu 9.04 virtualbox
The card is read using a Smargo smartreader+

With this I can watch and record all Sky SD and HD channels.
I have read also that this will work with Oscam instead of CCcam which would do away with the need for the Ubuntu virtualbox since it can run in windows but I haven't tried it yet.

Thanks for that - I may well invest in a card reader then. I haven't dabbled since even the use of genuine cards was driven underground.

Just out of curiosity; Why are you using Mdapifilter? Is is a demand from CCcam? Npvr certailny don't need it... Have you tried Acamd instead?

I also am watching this thread with interest. After the recent update of sky cards I've read a lot of people commenting on whether this is or isn't possible with other software but not seen anyone comment on GBPVR/nPVR. Would love to know if it's possible all in one box. I dont really want a dreambox or some other external box to read the card via if I can avoid it. I assume though if there is a windows7 card reader that'll work in the nPVR box that you'll have to stick the card in a genuine sky box once in while to get the encryption keys?

I too am really interested in this. I have a Sky+HD subscription, an Omnikey 3121 and a Win 7 test PC with a DVB-S2 card in it. I will try installing oscam and acamd tonight/tomorrow and see how I get on. I have to say it's all fairly new to me, so there may well be a number of dumb questions coming up on here!

Server: Ci5 2500k, 3GB, Windows Server 2012, nPVR 3.5.7. 2xWinTV-DVB-T USB, 1xWinTV-DVB-T PCI, 2 x BlackGold DVB-T, 1xPCTV290E and 1xPCTV460E on Astra 28.2 E.
clients: RPI2, Acer R3700, PCH-A110, NUC, 3xSamsung Smart TV

I use the following

Wind XP running Npvr
Mdapi filter built into Npvr
EMUbox
VM running ubuntu and CCcam

Pan

Hadu cccam client, how do your rate this against EMUbox?

Well I got mine working a couple of days ago. (my ISP has been down for the last 24hours ;(

Lots of playing around and dithering, but like many projects, it needs everything to work before it works.

cccam running under the smallest text based debian linux in a VM (vmware at present as I don't have the USB2 stuff for Oracles freebie Virtualbox and was unable to download it due to ISP woes).
Talking to a Smargo smartreaderplus on USB with a Sky card in it. (hint - get a genuine one and NOT a cheapie Chinese clone)

acamd just copied into the NPVR directory automagically created when your say a device has CI in setup.

There is some setup to do in cccam and acamd, but not onerous - there may well be some more stuff that I ought to have done though!.

I was most impressed when my first encrypted channel popped up and displayed.

What I would really like is to get rid of the VM requirement, either by seeing if it is possible to run cccam on something like my DNS323 NAS box or find a windows proglet that does the same thing.
Anyway, no more time for messing, 24 hours of stuff to catch up on, including the new version of npvr that I've just spotted.

NewCS runs under Windows (think it is 1.65 that is the last windows version). Works fine with Acamd here.
