Not my thing. I am not a fan of systems like this and the pricing is ... a bit too high. You could built your own Client. LC Power (known in the past for very, very bad power supplies) has meanwhile reached a very good level.

They are really cheap and have already a very efficient external psu.

As base i would take an Intel ITX Mainboard like the DH67CF

The CPU ist just a question of your needs. Personally i would recommend an Intel i3-2105 (it has an integrated HD3000 iGPU)

RAM i would use the default Kingston Value RAM DDR3-1333 ones. They're reliable and jedec conform. 2-4 Gigs should be used.

Additionally you can add in an Intel SSD X25-V 40 GB (way enough for an 32-bit Win 7 and nPVR). A nice Slim SlotIn DVD-RW would be a Samsung SN-T083C.

Et voilá you have a very performant and energyefficient client for not TOO much money. If you insert 4 gigs of ram, then you could replace the ssd with an normal hdd. But NPVR on a SSD is a really, really good feeling. Especially if you're browsing through your videofolders with coverart.

Of course you could use an amd based system too, but i can not recommend a concrete systemconfiguration.

Ah, the typical wattage of the above setup ( i have two of them ) is around 40 - 50 Wh including (!) a HP W2207h TFT. The cpu doesn't leave the idle state at work, so the temp is very, very low. And low temp means possibility for full passive cooling or silent fans.

If you don't need the hd 3000 of the i3-2105 you could go down to a pentium G (Sandy Bridge).

Yeah I didn't know what that Graphics chip was (part of the reason I posted). Also Shining dragon, by the time I constructed a machine overseas and got it shipped here I'd probably end up spending WAY morre just in shipping.

We're generally charged about $20USD to ship something here.... so unless I could source from one store, I'd be a bit shafted on the shipping costs.

But your components give me something to look at.

Mhm, just a short question. Are all pc components so expensive in new zealand: "Deal: Intel I3 540 + ASUS Motherboard + Kingston 4GB DDR3 Memory Kit $633.49" ? Or did i found just a "noble online shop" where you have to pay twice the price of worth? oO 378 EUR ... if i would buy this setup within europe i had to pay just 182 EUR. There should be 20 $ shipping not be too much (of course i don't know if there would be more to pay for you if you import from outside nz).

PCOnline shop are one of our real "discount" places....and they tend to make up their cheap pricing by charging $9 per item to send within NZ.

Someone like ascent.co.nz is more reputable and has free shipping (but costs more as a result).
