YAY i got IT !!!!!

"It was probably a video driver update that fouled up EVR for you."
except i never updated drivers Smile since it stopped working

ok so i went to decoders then ffdshow for mpeg2 options, rgb conversions, forced interlaced out. EVR works!!! nothing else works though Sadstill same issues with VMR7 VMR9 etc. but then i put it back to auto and its still works correctly? i dunno this is weird, but hey it works!

it would be easy to figure it out if you guys weren't tlaking about something competely different Big Grin

how do i make sure DXVA is on ?

EDIT\\\\ WOAH i was looking around more in ffdshow, and i found show hide settings, show i selected show all, and deinterlacing was in there! it wasnt on! i turned it on, EVR, vmr9 etc didnt change. the show is interlaced according to media info

im on a 480i TV if that makes a difference.

Totally agree. Windows 7 is the most painless way to go with NPVR. Giving the amount of time I spent on NPVR with Windows XP, and never getting it to work to my satisfaction... Windows 7 was a worthwhile investment.

I tried to take a look at this today (albeit on Win7), and the first time I fired it up with VMR9 Custom I also saw these interlacing artifacts. I quickly realised this problem only occurred for me with ffdshow though. Other decoders like the MainConcept decoders didnt have this problem. Were using ffdshow when you saw this problem? I've not really taken a low level look at why though.

what do you recommend for hardware acceleration and something that wont have interlacing issues.

I havnt used XP in years, so I'd probably just recommend Win7 Big Grin

On XP you can probably get away with most decoders as long as you have hardware acceleration disabled.

I am still on XP and have good results with NPVR on a rather old P4 with an NVIDIA 9500 GT.

I am using VMR9 (not custom) with MPC-MPEG2 video decoder (Gabest) for SD. For SD I don't need hardware acceleration so I haven't bothered to investigate into any decoders that would support it. For HD I have the PDVD8 codec which is using DXVA nicely. CPU load is below 10% in both cases. No tearing or other issues with either of the two types of material.

I tested PDVD and FFDshow (witn NV12 output). PDVD fall back to SW decoding.
Maybe Mainconcept fall back to SW deinterlacing too and provide already deinterlaced image, so you didnt see the issue.
Check the output colorspaces, it should be NV12 for HW deinterlacing.

That is exactly what i was talking about (case 2). Gabest MPEG-2 decoder have only primitive deinterlacing, it provide progresive picture, so VMR9 resize bug is not activated. But the quality is really ugly and only 1/2 of FPS.
