I recently switched to a HDMI cable on my PVR (see sig for specs).
I've noticed that the video often appears "smeared" on playback. It looks, during moderate speed action scenes, as if people's faces have been partially smeared as if someone wiped their hand over wet paint. It does make for some comical expressions on people's faces, but it's generally very annoying!

I'm guessing that some component of the video rendering process can't keep up with its work, but I have no idea how to go about debugging this.

Any help would be appreciated!

Is it possible that you make some screenshots and put them to an online picturehoster, so that we can see the problematic videos?

If it's an ATI card, try turning off all noise reduction in CCC.

Thanks, that seems to have worked. :-)
