ah, there's your original problem: your NAS shares are protected by a username and password. if you don't want to allow open access to those shares, then the work-around you have come up with is probably your only solution.

ok, here's the utility I was mentioning: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...er-utility

this will allow you to go back to using the system service account and remove the extra mess from your batch files, but you'll still need to provide the password to access the share. at least this way the authentication information is only in one obscure .xml file instead of the more commonly accessed batch files, if that makes any difference to you.

@ johnsonx42
I'll have a look at the toll you've mentioned just for interest and complete understanding of what I can possibly do, however I managed to get a current working solution without having to have my user or password in an file anywhere.

-SOLUTION-
I connected to the Share with the user and password using windows SMB (i.e. when the computer name / share shows in 'My Network Places'). Then I was able to freely access the share using \\ShareName\share folder\ or \\ip address\share folder\
I use this path syntax in my bat file and removed the network mapping. My batch file now runs okay (even after reboots etc...) and I don't have my user or password store in any readable files (except where ever windows puts the credentials I entered [I assume these are not plain text])

NOTE: I still have the service running under my user with admin rights, although I've not checked this solution by running as a normal service again.

Thanks for all help.
