Been messing around with the partitions (almost to the point of being unable to restore ), but still no joy. Although I got some additional log messages for you. Might be helpful.

Thanks. It seems there was possibly something wrong with the SD card previously as it is now correctly copying the files into place. But...

...at this point apologies to you and anyone else running Android previous to v2.2. I ran up a v2.1 emulator on my PC and got similar results to your log_report but with some extra detail. It seems I added some stuff only supported in Android v.2.2 and later without realising it.

Hmmm. It's quite critical code as well and I'm not sure yet if there's a work-around. I'll have to get back to you.

That's ok, at least that settles it . Android 2.1 will eventually phase-out of the user pool anyway, and for most phones/tablets there are custom upgrade rom's when official ones don't exist. Not in my case , but major rewrites to cater the needs of a diminishing minority is not the way to go.

And given that my main interest is the ability to browse the tv guide, and check which recordings are scheduled and/or which ones completed/failed. Would that code require 2.2+ stuff?
A "frozen development" version for 2.1 users would be appreciatted. Although I personally would understand if it's too troublesome to produce

Well I pretty much agree but I though about it for quite a while and the original goal was to support back to Android v1.6 at least for v1.x of nDroid. I've re-written the area of code which is failing for you and PM'd a link to a test version. If it works for you I'll upload it to the Market as a maintenance release.

Well based on my above comments, if we can get it to work for you (and I'm happy to do a few more fixes if needed), then the current code base will remain up until the end of nDroid v1.x.

I started playing around with nDroid v2.x which I'm slowly developing in parallel and it will be released as a separate app. I'd already decided that it will have a minimum requirement of Android v2.2 because of some of the features I want to add. By the time it's released I'd expect even fewer users of older Android versions.
