Buffering Issue

I have an update to my issue. The problem appears to occur on channels where I have not got a perfect signal. If I watch the same channel on npvr it will play without problems but when the signal is low I will get slight artifacting on screen and a slight glitch in the audio but it will continue on without me noticing too much.
If the same thing happens in XBMC then it gets into the buffering fit which will either sort itself out eventually but sometimes causes the XBMC to hang and only restarting XBMC resolves the issue.
I know the simple thing would be for me to realign my satellite but at this moment in time that is not possible.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Garbage in garbage out, NextPVR just writes what it receives. If XBMC isn't playing them that is an XBMC issues. There is a free program called tsMuXer that will rebuild these files and it might clean up some minor glitches improving playback of recordings in XBMC but that won't help LiveTV.

Yeah I understand that NPVR rights what it receives but the same stream in NPVR works perfectly, the only noticable thing is it will just glitch slightly but nothing too noticable. Same strean in XBMC causes it to pause unpause, pause unpause etc..
Really quite frustrating as it is nearly perfect apart from this issue.

From what I understand, NPVR uses its own ts reader for playback or live TV, and XBMC uses its own. Sub has put a lot of effort into ts playing over the past couple of years, and it shows. As Martin has noted, which is consistent with my experience, XBMC is at best an average ts player. So, it doesn't surprise me that some streams play better in NPVR than in XBMC.

So, the ball is in the XBMC court, so to speak.

Thanks Mike that's the best answer I've had so far and kind of confirmed what I was thinking.
What I was wondering was would adding a small delay before playing the .ts for example 2-3 seconds resolve the issue? The reason I am thinking this is because when it starts it's buffering fit I just pause for 2 secs and it plays fine for a little while.
Could sub add an option where you could specify the delay from starting the channel to when XBMC starts playing it back?

He did something like this for the HD-PVR owners in 2.5.9, you might want to put that as a specific topic in the Wishlist forum.
