GB-PVR => NPVR migration; where to set analog audio/video bitrates?

I use custom settings in GB-PVR to tailor my Hauppauge analog MPEG-2 encoder so that I can fit 120 minutes of video on a single 4.7G DVD-R blank. These data used to be contained in the "direct.ini" file.

I found corresponding video data in NPVR config.xml:

but nothing for audio. How does NPVR set this up in the Hauppauge driver?

There was nothing for configuring the audio, since there were no standard APIs for this. NextPVR supports a much much larger number of analog devices, in a more general way. I didn't bother adding it for just the couple of really old Hauppauge hardware encoder devices that supported it, since it would have been awkward. Sorry.

Am I correct in ass-u-ming that the Bitrate/BitratePeak data in NPVR config.xml will set the Hauppauge video parameters as expected?

I note that the V4L2 layer in Linux provides a consistent interface to all audio & video parameters on the PVR and HVR Hauppauge cards I've worked with (PVR-150, PVR-500, PVR-USB2, HVR-1800, HVR-2250). I haven't messed with any Windows driver-level Hauppauge stuff, though.

Yes.

There is a consistent API for video, across all manufacturers device, but not for audio. There is an older proprietary API for controlling the audio on the older Hauppauge hardware encoder devices, but its for a very limited number of devices. These days NextPVR works will all Hauppauge analog capable devices, including software encoder devices etc, and most other manufactures software/hardware encoder devices.
