I think choppy a/v is typical problem with the PVR500 on a 64 bit machine that has more than 4GB. You can use msconfig to limit memory to under 4GB (ie 4095) to confirm.

You're amazing, Martin! I just looked up drivers for the PVR500 and was wondering how critical the "less than 4gigs of ram" specification was. Click on Driver install only tab at: http://www.hauppage.com/site/support/sup...vr150.html

In your original post you refer to Live TV. How is the playback of recordings?

If it is the PVR500 DMA problem, new recordings would be bad, but files in the library captured on the old machine should work.

Thanks for all of the help guys! I reloaded gbpvr left everything default and live tv and recordings work no problem. I just don't get it.

I will try the 4gig limiting M has suggested with NextPVR and let you know the results. As of right now though, GBPVR is up and fully running.....family is happy. I can play with the other stuff later. I will update.

Again, thanks for all of the suggestions and help!

With gbpvr recordings and live feed working....new issue though....yellow subtitles show on the bottom of the screen. I can't find in the config where to shut them off. All of the CC buttons I see are not toggled on. Any ideas?

Any ideas on the yellow subtitles gents?
Also, obviously my old cards are the problem with NPVR. If i want to stick with analog incoming cable, what cards would you guys recommend?

RE yellow subtitles: If your display is a TV, have you looked into the possibility that a TV setting is causing Closed Captions or subtitles to be displayed? I suppose there is some possibility that changing MPEG2 video decoders might make the subtitles go away. If you're convinced that the problem is with GB-PVR, then perhaps start a thread on the GB-PVR Support (legacy) forum if you don't soon get an answer here.

RE NPVR/analog tuners: You should be reluctant to invest in more analog hardware because your cable provider will go all-digital one of these days, as mine did in December. Did you try Martin's suggestion in post #11?
