DVBSky S952 DVB-S2 Twin Dual Card

Hi,

I would like to use this card DVBSky S952 DVB-S2 Twin Dual in my windows 7 pc for recording and watching tv at the same time using nextpvr as backend for xbmc. Has anyone achieved this with this hardware? Is it possible at all to do recording and watching at the same time in nextpvr (xbmc) by using 2 singals that way?

I was about to ask if this card works with NextPVR. As they use the same chipset I assume the same answer will apply to the single tuner S950 and USB S960 model.

I was going to get a TBS card but was put off by numerous reports of them running hot and failing out of warranty. On Amazon pages the low power consumption of this card is emphasised although no figures are given and nothing is mentioned on the manufacturer’s web site.

It should work, though I don't have this device and haven't tested it. Its worth noting that diseqc switching only works with Hauppauge, FireDTV, TechnoTrend and TBS device. I'm not sure if you'll need this in your setup.

Temprature could be an issue to me, because I want to use it in a passive cooled living room mediacenter pc from deltatronic. Maybe using 2 usb receiver could be a better approach? Has anyone experience with using 2 usb sat reciever with nextpvr to watch TV with one reciever and record another TV channel with the second?

Buying two of a kind might be risky because in some cases drivers can only support one unit. Of course they make dual USB tuners, although I'm not sure about DVB-S models.

I did find that thread but it was far from conclusive as the original poster was talking about "If I end up using NextPVR". He did find "Some Channels" so it would seem to be working with NextPVR.

On a thread elsewhere people where stating power consumption from some cards were 20-25W. However someone who just bought this card says his measured power consumption goes up less that 6W when the card is in his PC and that the card only gets "slightly warm".
