I just bought an Hauppauge HDPVR2 and I'm trying to set it up in NextPVR. I originally tried the Lifehacker instructions, followed the quick start instructions when that didn't work, but the decoders weren't accessible and when I tried to play "Live TV", nothing would happen. I did some searching, and following this post (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post333371) registered them manually. I'm now using "ArcSoft Video Decoder" for all the video decoders and "ArcSoft Audio Decoder" for all the audio decoders.

However, now when I click "Live TV", I see the message "...please wait..." for a few seconds, then the application hangs (the screen turns white, the loading icon continuously spins, and Windows 7 says the application is "Not Responding."

I've zipped my log files and attached them. If you could tell me what I'm doing wrong or point me to another thread, I'd be much obliged.

When you try to start live tv, does a live tv file get created in the c:\temp directory, and does it grow?

It doesn't look like the drivers are installed correctly.

2013-11-22 16:53:28.217 [DEBUG][7] Building graph using: Hauppauge HD PVR Crossbar (112058812)
2013-11-22 16:53:28.227 [DEBUG][7] FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: Hauppauge HD PVR Crossbar
2013-11-22 16:53:28.227 [ERROR][7] Unable to StartStream(): Unable to locate crossbar filter (#1)

Doees the Arcsoft program work? What about Hauupauge Capture?

Thanks for the help Martin.

I re-installed the drivers again just to be certain. Both Hauppauge Capture and ArcSoft Showbiz appear to be working correctly, but it appears to me I'm still experiencing the same problem. I searched the logs and didn't see the same message you found before, so it might be something else.

NRecord is working now, but our new NPVR.log doesn't show enough info, probably still cached, try again exit NexPVR completely and maybe the .1 files too. I strongly suspect the fact that you haven't configred AAC and AC3 audio decoders is part of the problem.

Ok, I disabled all of the audio decoders and enabled them one by one to see which was the problem, and it appears to be the E-AC3. If I set all of the others to ArcSoft Audio Decoder, and disable the E-AC3, the video for the live TV plays without hanging the app, however, there is no sound. If I disable all the others and only set E-AC3 to ArcSoft Audio Decoder, then the app hangs again when I select live TV. Is there something else I should do to configure the decoders? Should I set them to something other than ArcSoft Audio Decoder?

Here are the logs again, if needed.

You can just leave the E-AC3 decoder disabled - you don't need this for your HDPVR (or any broadcast TV in North America).

If your version of the ArcSoft are working for you, then they should be fine.

This doesn't look good, it might be that the Arcsoft audio decoder won't work outside Arcsoft.

2013-12-02 14:19:11.753 [DEBUG][1] Adding system AAC decoder
2013-12-02 14:19:11.753 [ERROR][1] Unable to find named decoder
2013-12-02 14:19:11.754 [DEBUG][1] Adding system AC3 decoder
2013-12-02 14:19:11.754 [ERROR][1] Unable to find named decoder

I'd personally start with LAV http://files.1f0.de/lavf/LAVFilters-0.59.1.exe for both (because that is what I use with my HDPVR)
