As Martin points out, it has functionality which will look for another device if any error occurs when starting a recording. This only happens when an error occurs though, like the graph failing to run, or a required component not being found etc. It doesn't cover a situation where everything hooks up fine, and the graph starts correctly, but the device never delivers any data.

I remember that GB-PVR would check to see whether the recording file was actually growing, and then retry the recording if it wasn't. I'm not sure if it would try another tuner in that case, or just try again on the same tuner.

I think these folks are saying the same thing. Sounds like a simple target, whether it's as simple a solution, only sub can say.
