Happauge 2250 unable to communicate with recording service

Hi, I have looked through all posts on this issue but see no resolve
Win 7
Happauge 2250
Device locates fine
channels scan ok
Firewall for required services enabled or firewall disabled
127.0.0.1 is being blocked, I have no other software to block localhost

I still get error "unable to communicate with recording service"

Got it working here was the problem;

1. I had installed npvr on D:\npvr ... all my programs are on D: drive
2. nrecord service there was no log and would not start, service was pointing to c:\npvr\nrecord.exe nothing there !
3. un installed everything and installed to c:\npvr
4. fixed excessive buffering cycling in Kodi by enabling time-shift

This should be a slam dunk install for Windows 7, also I would have like to see channel names like this " 10.1 WJAR" for those of us that have bordering markets from other states, it just makes it easier than names

We've seen this before in some cases when people install to anything other than the standard path, yet others do so with no problems. We're testing the next release of NPVR now, I'll try to test a clean install to an alternate drive; if I can get it to fail I'll see if I can get a fix before release.

did you possibly previously install NPVR to c:\npvr? I was able to recreate a failure like yours by installing first to e:\npvr which worked fine, then uninstalling and re-installing to c:\npvr. Everything got installed to c:\npvr, but the service entry was still pointing to e:\npvr.

the solution here has been repeated in many threads: from an administrator command prompt execute:

sc delete "NPVR Recording Service"

then re-install to whatever path you desire. I'll ask sub to add a fix to the installer and/or uninstaller for the next release.

I think I did try to install it a while back when it was XBMC 12 something. I did clean the registry of all npvr instances before installing on C: drive this time after the D: drive install

I've requested a fix for the next version, to have the uninstaller remove the service entry; this way when the installer runs the service entry will be create again with the correct path.
