Some others have certainly transcoded their files in the past, using the PostProcessing.bat NextPVR calls after each recording. This is a convenient point to hook in stuff like this.

Personally I'd just stick with the original files these devices produce. It's not worth the hassle/cpu trying transcode them when disk is so cheap. If you transcode them to other container formats like .avi/.mkv/.mp4 etc, you're effectively ruling out being able to add NextPVR clients in the future (since it only streams the native .ts format).

I not a coder. I can mess around with a .bat file with help but I need something someone has made close to what I'm trying to do.

I'll try posting here and see what comes of it.

Thanks.

BTW: Do you sleep? It's 5:35PM here. Is it not night time where you live?

I don't sleep enough Big Grin. It's lunch time here in NZ though, so plenty of day still ahead of me.

Some people use MCEBuddy that runs at night while the PC is idle to compress their videos.

I do agree with sub that keeping them in their original format is best. Disk are cheap and no nightly PC work out for compression sucking down additional wattage.
