Hi Group,

I have decided to upgrade from WIN 7 x86 to Win 8.1 x64. I am testing this on a separate drive (clean install) and have gone through hell for the past 2 weeks getting the drivers to work. But now I’m past all that and have started to load NPVR 3.4.8. My system has two 2250’s and one 1600 with a total of 5 digital and 5 analog tuners. This works fine on Win7 x86 in the same box. The problem is that not all devices are present with the new O/S.

What I found is that on the very first device scan all tuners are present, but when I return to the device screen, two analog tuners are not and remain missing thereafter.

The NPVR database shows them all, but I noticed that the 2250 ID’s are duplicated. Even so, the QAM sections work fine. Only the analog tuners fail. I tried reloading and giving them unique ID’s but the same thing occurs.

I know that others have been running NPVR with Win 8.1 so I must be missing something. I would appreciate any help on this.
I am attaching screen caps of my settings and the database files for the first and second device scan.

Thanks in advance.

I just went through what looks to be the same problem http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ot-present. Maybe the same patch will work, you'll have to ask sub.

Hi dixxfixx. Thanks for the quick reply.

I tried the NShared.dll fix, but it didn't help. Just to see how much pain I could stand, I set up Win 8.1 x86 on another partition. After loading the drivers, etc. I found that NPVR did not have this problem. So it looks like its related to the 64 bit OS. There is some incompatibility with the Hauppauge driver and the 64 bit version of windows. I wounder if anyone has experienced this problem with Win 7 x64?

Can you go to the Settings->Devices screen, then post your npvr.log?

Hi SUB. I restarted and opened the Devices Screen then copied the logs.

Do you remember if you installed an HVR-2250, then the 1600, then the other 2250?

You could give this patch a go to see if it helps. Backup your original file first, in case you need to go back.

Its possible, but I just don't know. I think I installed a 2250 with the 1600 and then added another 2250 latter. The boards have been in this box unchanged for almost 7 years (one of my drives has over 58,000 hours of operation).

SUB,

That did it! Amazing, it was only 7 minutes after I sent you the logs.

I restarted several times now and its working fine. I need to finish the rest of the installation to confirm everything else and I'll let you know how it goes. I'm curious about what caused this. Was it the order of the board installation? I want to be able to avoid this in the future.

Thank you very much,

ernie

Great.

Thank you very much,
It just came down to the order of the devices when queried from the system. Usually the they come grouped together, but in this case they weren't. I just added logic to handle this scenario.
