Missing recordings, service not starting?

I have been using NPVR for about a year now, and occasionally weeks at a time will go without recording. I missed most of the end shows from last season, and it started again this last week. Not sure if the service is not automatically starting or what.

System:
Windows 10 Pro
8 GB ram
HD Homerun distro

If you want to check if the service is starting automatically, reboot and check if there is nrecord.exe in the process list, or check the in the Services control panel that the NPVR Recording Service is running.

There is no obvious sign of errors in your recording service log. You can check your Windows Event Viewer for any sign of it crashes around the time your problems started.

Okay, so I restarted the machine and then checked the services panel. NPVR Recording Service was running, and it was set to auto start. Windows log had no messages from NPVR recording service around the times where the recording failed to take place.

Do you ever shutdown your PC fully or have power outages? NextPVR won't wake up automatically in those cases.

If you have problems with the Recording Service stopping sometimes then in Recovery tab for the service set the service to restart if it stops. However it it happens very regularly then you have a fault which needs investigation.

Another solution is an automatic overnight reboot which prevents many faults you havnt noticed continuing into the next day.
