I'm having some issues with my NPVR PC randomly hanging/freezing. I am about to try a clean re-install of Windows 7 as a last resort. I have a recent disk image © backup if this all goes south, so no fear :-)

I have already swapped the RAM and motherboard, as well as installed the latest motherboard chipset drivers inf files, the latest nVidia graphic adapter drivers, and the latest Hauppauge USB Dual HD drivers. I may try swapping out the PSU, but am asking this question in advance, so I can prepare for a complete rebuild.

Q: What folders should I save and copy to a fresh install of NPVR after the re-install to keep all of my NPVR recordings and Schedules Direct program guide settings intact? The actual TV shows are recorded on separate volumes from my Windows boot and programs © drive and will not be impacted.

You can just backup the config.xml and npvr.db3 files from c:\users\public\npvr directory.

I usually copy the entire folder structure so that I don't lose customization files for comskip, batch files, channel logos, etc. Smile

@sub - Your suggestion worked great. Thanks!

Everything that I needed made the trip over to the new build. First I installed and updated Windows 7 and the system drivers. Then installed my Hauppauge drivers, installed a fresh copy of NPVR, and finally dragged those files over from a recent backup and placed them over top of the default files in the freshly installed copy of NPVR. Working great again!

Amazing how simple that was. Great app design :-)

I don't know if you mean sub or HarryH3 but I think copying the entire data folder makes the most sense for scripts and meta data.

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind if I do any custom stuff in the future. But right now I'm pretty much plain vanilla. Just didn't want to lose my channel lineup, scheduled recordings, and Schedules Direct settings.

Hi All

I somehow had a corrupted or changed file system when I rebuilt. Is there a way to rebuild from the file or directory as the recording list is gone.
Thank you.
