I noticed today that I had thousands of cached images from pvr.nextpvr on my Kodi folder system and I barely use the addon.
The caching algorithm does it by URL and for recordings there are two images per recording (cover and background) ie.
http://ip:8866/service?method=recording....g_id=17156
and
http://ip:8866/service?method=recording....g_id=17156
With one show with 10 episodes each after each session that you open that folder you end up with 20 entries in the database and 20 files in the Thumbnail cache. Ironically only two files ever get sent over and over. I suspect you will have tons more if you have NextPVR download EPG art.
The point of this is if you have a low memory machine you might want to clean your thumbnails out periodically Here is a guide I found that seems pretty simple http://www.htpcbeginner.com/clear-kodi-t...ils-cache/
