Normally when starting a show in progress, while being recorded, I would get prompted to either start at the beginning of the show, or where it is in the progress of the show.

I just moved all of the recordings to a NAS share. Since then, if I start a recording while in progress, it just starts where the show is currently at in the recording process. I know that I while was trying to get the NAS share to work, I had made some changes and tweaks here and there, but I don't remember everything that I might have changed. Is there a setting somewhere that I might have changed that prompts me to start the recording from the beginning while in progress? I use a RPi2,Kodi 16.1.

Thank you.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? It would be nice to have this feature working again.

Thanks

NextPVR has a prompt like this when you're watching in NextPVR. I'm not sure if Kodi does or not.

Sounds like to are trying to watch recordings from the Kodi EPG. I think the default is to watch live tv not the recording but their is a PVR configuration option to have a context menu instead of play. There a lots of limitations with http files and in progress recording if you do it a lots x-newa would be an option playing from your share however if you do want to watch Live TV. Note that in NextPVR and in web client you don't get the option to watch live tv if a recording is in-progress so you have to decide if you need that feature.

Note you should post Kodi support posts in the Kodi sub-forum here Your post is quite ambiguous and hard to interpret for non Kodi users so I wouldn't expect many replies.

I had always thought that the prompt came from NextPVR, not from Kodi. I added in the Kodi 16.1 because I wanted to make sure that whomever reading this knew that was what I was using to view the show. It could very well be a setting in Kodi, as I was monkeying around with them as well NextPVR settings when I was trying to get the NAS share to work. I've looked over everything that I can remember having changed, and reset everything back to the original settings, but my guess is, I missed something.

Thanks Martin. I'll post a message on the Kodi forum as well and ask them what setting might change this behavior.

Nope, it'd have to be Kodi itself showing you a message like this.

Thanks Sub. I appreciate the reply. However, with that said, the power of the forum, struck again.

As soon as I posted my last reply, everything went back to normal. I decided to test a recording and see if I could figure out what setting I needed to get the prompt to show. Without making any further changes to any settings, I was prompted during the recording session to either start at the beginning, or while in progress. Basically, it just asks me if I want to start at the beginning, "YES" or "NO". I like that feature, because if I start a program that has been recording for a while, I can start at the beginning, then FF through the commercials.

As I said, it was the power of the forum. It always works this way. Post the question, and suddenly, things just start working. Big Grin

With several different parts of the environment, I'm not really sure which part is responsible for what. I have NextPVR running on one system, OpenELEC running on a RPi2 which is built on Kodi. A NextPVR add-on to access NextPVR. Lots a different parts, so if something doesn't work, I usually start at one group, then work my way around to the other forums until I, hopefully, get an answer.

As always, thank you for the input.
