Nextpvr with Hauppauge 950Q: IR blaster?

I have set up the Hauppauge 950Q with Nextpvr, and everything works very well when I'm recording OTA ATSC broadcasts. However I'd like to record some TV shows off my cable box as well, and I'm not sure how to do IR commands in that case.

Is there an IR blaster I can get? Does it connect to the Hauppauge 950Q tuner directly, or does it connect to the computer via USB directly? How do I configure it in settings afterwards?

To get cable box output to my computer, I use a Hauppauge HDPVR2. I feed the component outputs from the cable box to the HDPVR2. You could just take the coax cable output from the cable box into the 950Q, but I don't think that's HD.

In any case, look into the USB-UIRT to control the cable box.

Sorry, I'm really new to this. Before with MCE, it'd just automatically switch the channels before any recording. How exactly can I get NextPVR to switch channels on the cable box?

For example, where do I even program in the IR codes so it knows what IR signals to send in the first place?

The included eHome IR receiver/blaster signals. Something like this. You can plug an IR blaster into the back of the transceiver and then just mount the IR blaster in front of your cable box

NextPVR optionally runs a "command" when it changes channels on an analog tuner. The command is entered as "Executable" as described at ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...etupDialog

There are several executables that folk are using ... Search the forum for haupblast or for irss as examples ... haupblast.exe is in the NPVR Program Files folder. You may already know of a program that works with your blaster.
