The area around the back of my TV is a veritable mass of cables; HDMI, Ethernet, Google Chromecast, even some old RCAs.
The worst issue though is the Power Bricks on 8 or 10 plug extension boards. Horrible.

Has anyone tried to use PoE with a splitter to power e.g. the PCH-A110 (12V, 3A, 2.5mm Centre Positive, OD 5.5mm/ID 2.5mm).
Or any other of the Client Boxes out there? I know you might be replacing them with PoE Splitters which are ugly too but I could at least hide these close to the devices. My server lives upstairs, wired Ethernet cable (Cat. 5E) down through the wall.

I also have a 5 port umanaged switch (Linksys G205) [Power 12W max. and 12V @ 1.0A DC input Power consumption (max) GS205: 3.56W]. Would PoE run that too?

If so do folks have 802.311at Switches/Injectors? Or the lower Power 802.311af ones?

Any feedback welcome!

Cheers

k.

I have not used injectors but I have installed PoE network switches.

The device being powered would need to be designed for PoE in order to internally be able to separate the power and network signal. Other wise you will need to have another device to separate the two. Such as this one https://tinyurl.com/y9qg8bkt. The only problem I see with this one is that the power cable to go between the splitter and your device does not appear to be included. Although I have not looked it may be able to be purchased separately. Make sure to get the correct sized ends.

You will also need to make sure that the injector has the proper output voltage, amperage and wattage, other wise you will burn it up if it is not powerful enough, if it provides more power then you need that is fine. The device connected to it will only take what it need. In case you need it the formula to calculate wattage is W=VA where w = wattage, V = Wattage and A = Amperage.

Cheers Kevin. Apparently the PCH would pull 12v at 3.0A or 36watts to much for PoE which does only 15W max per port.
The Gigabit switch might work though. 12V @ 1.0A =12W.
