Of course computers don't actually require sleep; but in NRecord you were also getting "device failed to start" errors with live TV, so a new tuner with drivers certified for Windows 10 might be the best solution. I can't very well recommend specific DVB tuners because we use a different system on my side of the pond (you are in the UK I gather), but perhaps someone else can.

If the PC is used mainly for TV and you are using in-band guide data with no need for an internet connection, then that's not a bad idea at all - and if you made an image or clone before upgrading, then it would be quite simple. However, if the PC is also used for web browsing, or if you would have to reinstall Windows 7 from scratch, then your decision is more difficult. Among other things, you should make sure that your ATI driver version is still available for download before reinstalling.

Just to wrap this thread up, I have installed a second drive with Windows 7 and with NPVR installed it all works perfectly - comes out of Sleep Mode with no problem. I now have a dual boot PC, with one drive (W7, no internet) for recordings and the other (W10, general usage).

So thanks for all the help, but it is obvious that my PC and/or the DVB tuner is/are incompatible with Windows 10 for unattended recordings. I just don't feel happy at being forced to upgrade my hardware when Microsoft can no longer support my O/S, but I now have a solution which will work.
