What is being sent when using /live?channel=3.1

Could some one tell me what exactly is being sent from the NPVR sever when I submit the following API:

http://127.0.0.1:8866/live?channel=3.1

Is there some special protocol being used?  Just the the raw video feed.  What is need on the client end to "read" the stream?

It is an http stream content-type video/MP2T

A live stream has no end but you can specific a time with ffmpeg if you want.

It's a transport stream. It's pretty much a copy of whatever was captured from your tuner, and will contain whatever audio video streams your broadcaster is sending. ie, could be a mix of MPEG2/H.264/HEVC video, and/or one or more audio channels of MPEG1/AAC/HE-AAC/AC3/EAC3, and maybe some data streams (like DVB Subtitles etc)

Any players that can handle transport stream should be able to play it. ie, VLC, ffplayer, etc.
