Kodi/LE user here looking to test out various iptv add-ons. I was recommended nextpvr and thought I could easily test it as the add-on was available in Kodi/LE. Initial attempts quickly revealed that this is some sort of hobbled version that gives no clear indication that it does not provide a full solution. Ok, the title says it's a client, and it can be inferred from that that it thus needs a server (or a frontend needing a backend to use MythTV parlance) to actually function. Well, looking through Kodi error logs backed up my supposition that this is why I couldn't get the add-on to function after I'd installed.
Further searching led me to this thread which does seem to offer a full solution. But having perused the thread I'm still not entirely certain what directives to follow. The initial post outlines a set of directives, but a later post seems to offer updated directives. The point of confusion I'm facing is that the initial post describes as a preliminary step, prior to installing nextpvr using the attached script, installing another add-on, NetCore. The updated post, #26, says nothing about that step. So does the updated post supersede and replace the directives in the first post, obviating the need to install the NetCore add-on? In other words is it now some kind of one-step process? Or does the the zip file linked to in post #26 just take the place of the install script mentioned in post #1 and described under step 4.? So essentially, the steps in post #1 are followed except at step number 4, instead of using nextpvr-elec.sh, the zip file linked to in post #26 is used? Thanks. Clarifications will be appreciated.

The package in #26 installs everything you need to install the backend for IPTV including netcore. It is not fully compatible with LE11 or CE20 but when Sub releases the next version of NextPVR that will change and the add-on will be improved! Too. Also in the future you will be able to install directly too and there will be better documentation on the wiki

Ok thanks. I'm on LE 10/Kodi 19 and when I try to install the zip file on this system I get an unresolvable dependency error related to LE 9.2. I had understood I should be able to install this under LE 10: was I mistaken about that?
The error from the logs is: The dependency on os.libreelec.tv version 9.2 could not be satisfied.

You are not mistaken in works with LE10. The installation takes a little while to install the dependencies but they are all met in LE10. I suspect you have a failed python2 add-on that is causing this display error that you need to remove but I would think installation would continue after you see the error. Maybe check under Services to see if NextPVR did install.
If not, to get the logs from LibreElec ssh into the box and run pastekodi this will provide a URL to the log files and we can look at. Martin
Not found under Services. Here is the pastebin: http://ix.io/47Gg
I just recently upgraded to LE 10 btw. I was held back from upgrading by an add-on I needed and that relied on Python 2.x. I stopped using that add-on about a month ago so decided to go ahead with the upgrade. LATER EDIT: went ahead and uninstalled a couple add-ons that had been auto-disabled after the upgrade (ffmpeg tools and another) and now the NextPVR server installs. But this is just the backend, right? Now I need to install the client (FE) as well?

Thanks, the logs showed what happened, ffmpeg tools being disabled was the issue.
Yes so now the server is installed and the next step it to configure your IPTV via the web server on http://ip:8866/ No point in installing pvr.nextpvr until that is finished. Martin
