I just built myself a nice new shiny RPi4B and put the latest LibreElec v9.2.6, kodi v19, on it.  But for some reason, I wasn't getting video, so the makers of LE suggested that I try the latest version LE v10, kodi v20.  I now get video, but audio/video is way out of sync.  In the past I used to purchase codec's to sync audio/video, but that is not an option with RPi4.  Also, there used to be a settings option that would sync audio/video, but that option is gone.  I am being told by both kodi forums and LE forums that because of using GBM windowing, the sync option is no longer available.  Kodi forum told me that the reason for the lose of video/audio sync is because the stream is to hard to decode in real time.

Are they saying that the machine that I'm running NPVR on is to slow?  Is there a setting in NPVR that I can changed for better performance?

Thanks

Daryl

It won't be a NextPVR issue and personnaly I have never been a Raspberry Pi fan, but h264 720p broadcast should not be difficult to play. What is your tuner source, I thought you dropped cable?

Funny you bring that up.  Apparently I'm not the only user in my area that Cox mucked up.   A couple of day's after they changed their encoding or whatever they did, they quickly reversed course. I apparentlyerently wasn't the only one complaining.

I may however end up dropping it this time, because if kodi can no longer decode video/audio, then I can't use it.  In my opinion, its become worthless.

With respect to the pi.  I personally love these little things.  I have at least a dozen around doing different tasks.  Four are media pi's (actually three and a wannabe).  I have a dns pi, a mysql pi that I use to keep the media databases on, email, amongst other tasks.  I tell people that I put two in a box, and they just multiply.  If finally decommissioned my first pi, a first gen that ran my DNS for several years.

Don't get me wrong I like the RPi family just limited as Kodi clients. The RPi4 might eventually be as good or better then the RPi3's and I would be happy if that happened.

Do recordings work or do they suffer the same problem? If they are ok you might be better with timeshift mode for Live TV where you can control buffering better then direct play.

If recordings fail, I'd try a remux to see if it's the source. You can to it with ffmpeg but I've found ts4np to be good too. It's a little bit down on this page https://www.videohelp.com/software/TsRemux

I haven't been successful at getting the LE v10, kodi v20 nightly or the new alpha/beta to work well either. As you describe the audio/video is way out of sync.

I've still got my "production" RPi 4 with LE 9.2.6 that I use occasionally. But since I've been testing the new Roku Premiere and now the TCL Roku TV, I've mostly had the RPi's turned off.

I have two other RPi4b's running LE 9.2.6, both on WIFI and they work great. But for whatever reason, this brand new Pi, wouldn't display video when using LE 9.2.6.  The LE forum had me upgrade to v10. I get video, but audio/video sync issue.  Both Kodi and LE forums are not helpful.

A couple of ideas for you:

1. You are using the HDMI port closest to the power port, correct? I'm pretty sure that LE requires that to work properly. (I do sort of recall one of the symptoms of using the wrong port is audio but not video now that I think about it.)
2. At least for testing, you might try taking the SD card or USB drive from one of the working units and duplicating it to try in the new Pi. That would help to determine if it was a hardware/cable/TV issue or a software issue.

Providing that extra tidbit of information here and on the Kodi forum from the start would have been very helpful.
