hi - I could really use some help on getting streamlink to execute in nextpvr.  I set up the extras and Next PVR per the instructions posted in the forum.  I attempt to change to a Pluto channel in the web interface.  I get the "Failed to start requested stream" error in the UI.

The log shows the error:
Quote:Unexpected error calling StartStream(): System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (2): No such file or directory

I execute this in a terminal window:
Code:
sudo -u nextpvr streamlink https://pluto.tv/live-tv/the-price-is-right-the-barker-era best -O

and I see the stream in the window as expected.  Attached are the log files.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you, John

It feels like a path issue to me. Did you follow all the install and troubleshooting steps shown on the wiki ie restarting the server after installing the python3, libraries and streamlink. and doing all the sudo tests to make sure you are installing everything for all users? I know that isn't pythonic, but it is what it is.

Thanks for your reply, Martin.  I did restart the server, and I even went as far as putting /home/nextpvr/.local/bin in the /etc/sudoers file so that the nextpvr user picked up streamlink.
However I don't think I did "all the sudo tests" for all users.

Can you point me in the right direction to perform these tests?  Thanks again

You don't want nextpvr to run as sudo, you want to make sure the path is set up correctly so nextpvr has the correct path to streamlink Sorry the streamlink install doesn't explain how to install for all users, I just used sudo and installed the deb packages and it works.

Maybe create scripts/PostStartup.sh (don't forget chmod +x) and add a line

streamlink -v

and see if anything gets logged to nrecord.log

Thanks for your help, Martin.  I got this to work.  Your tip on creating some commands in scripts/PostStartup.sh is what worked to debug, and the problem was around paths as you suspected.  There was an extra part of my path variable that SL was trying to access, and that path didn't exist, so a "Permission Denied" error was being thrown.  There were a couple other things, but this was the main one.  Thanks again, John.

Great, seeing what goes on via PostStartup is pretty much the only way to debug these problems even though we kind of misuse the purpose. That was a nice addition by sub in v5
