I think you're right about the Quad Tablo tuner. It isn't quite as good as the Dual Lite.

Are the Tablo devices capable of Multirec on Linux? Multirec allows an entire subset of channels on the same frequency to be recorded with one tuner. Also, can the storage device be connected to the pc instead of the Tablo device? I read a manual for a Tablo quad tuner and it states the storage connects to the Tablo instead of the pc.

No, the only true multi-rec for networked devices is for the Silicon Dust HDHR on Windows when they use BDA drivers. Back to back multi-rec for padding should work. The Tablo is not even capable of full mux capture. For most personal use the quad should be ok anyway.

When using the Tablo with NextPVR, the only storage that matters is local PC storage, it does not use any DVR capability of the TabloTV. I have never had reports positive or negative of the Tablo TV working with the Extra, it would need to support the same playback and discover capability as the tuner devices.
