HDHR Tuner quality

I have two HDHRs - an HDHR3 and an HDHR4. They are in the basement and closer to the antennas than the TV sets.

In my experience, both of my HDHRs are inferior to the tuners in either TV, both of which are significantly more successful at bringing in watchable signals on more distant stations. Further, I have found the HDHR4 to have a lot of trouble with overload, and the HDHR3, generally, to be more capable. This has required a fair bit of fancy footwork to maximize reception, which could still be better.

So, here's my question. anyone out there have experience with either of these as well as a newer HDHR? I would "upgrade" to a newer one if it was, indeed, an upgrade.

I have a HDHR3-DT, and I haven't had any signal strength issue. Sorry I can't help or suggest anything... Maybe try connecting your TV to the same wall plug in the basement to see if the signal strength is as expected at that plug. Try the HDHR from the plug in the TV room. Swapping both receivers may help pinpoint the origin of the problem...

Have you tried inline signal amplifiers?

I do believe they are, relatively, old tuner tech at this point. I don't have substantial issues with mine but they are more touchy about antenna aiming then some of my other tuners. I use a signal booster before any splits and have planned to try a booster at the antenna, as already suggested, but haven't yet.
