Hello all,

first of all i would like to say that GBPVR is awesome, and developing in very exciting ways. I had been using an old old version (maybe from late 2004?) and i just decided to add some hardware to my PVR (including a DVD burner) which led me to update my GBPVR and....oh my! Very nice!

Anyhow, here is where I am at: I want to be able to do two things with the DVD burner: burn TV shows (with comskip points as chapters) and rip DVDs to my computer, then be able to watch them or burn them.

I thought MyVideos could do all this, but clearly I do not know how to configure it (or I am wrong).

I have all the requisite software installed (I think), including DVDDecrypter, all the software called for in myvideos (binaries etc), Nero 6.6.0.16, Demon Tools, etc. I configured it as I thought I am supposed to (in myvideos plugin setup dvddecrypter path is right, there is a DVD temp folder) but when I put in a DVD I cannot click the "Copy DVD" button?

How can I rip the DVDs into ISOs, then mount them when I want to and then burn them when I want to? I have D-Tools installed and its pointed to the right directory in the config setup..... Sad

Any ideas? Much appreciated....

I don't know if the latest MyVideo will let you rip DVDs, pretty sure it will not. According to the Wiki, MyDVD with MyVideo can make and burn DVDs from your recordings. VideoArchiver has the DVD2MPEG plugin included in it. This will allow you to rip a DVD to MPEG format, this allows for viewing with PVR350 or MVP. If you won't be doing that, I'd suggest keeping the format as VOB files, or an ISO, a better option IMHO for nonMVP use. As far as a plugin that will do that, I think the DVD Ripper will do that. I don't use it, but I imagine it would easy to make any changes to have it perform as you wish.

I personally like to use DVD Shrink so the ISO backups of my DVDs are smaller on the HDD and still look good. Of course I have an MVP so I usually do a 4.7GB DVD Shrink and then DVD2MPEG conversion.

Thanks John!

Okay, so I got DVD Ripper which lets me rip to ISO through DVDDecrypter, now how do I watch the iso??? Smile

I have D-Tools installed, but i dont know how to mount the .iso file through GBPVR. Also, is there a pluin to run DVDShrink?

Does DVD2MPEG do any transcoding, or is that a simple stream rip too?

Thanks!

the "Copy DVD" will use dvd decrypter (must be configured in the my videos config form not gbpvr config form) and rip it to the folder you have specified (also needs to be setup in the config form, and this directory MUST have subdirectories, it uses the sub dirs as genre names). so you probably dont have subdirectories...

and to burn an ISO image just go to the popup menu (f11) and then "burn/burn iso" (unless you changed the menu structure) and it should then burn the iso using dvd decrypter.

if you want to burn video files, dvddecrypter and the dvdwriter you specified in the config form doesnt get used. it uses the convert.bat and dvdburn.bat file supplied in the .zip file (you'll need to edit these files to point to the applications on your system).

if you want to use nero for burning (and i recommend this) you need to download the nero .bat file found on the wiki.

if you need more help with the "my dvd" feature, just search the forum, theres a lot of posts on this, and the wiki explains it pretty well.

Thanks Reven.....I'm pretty sure you are right about the sub-directories....i saw something in GB about what "genre" to select and I thought

I will try that later and see if I can't get it working as I would like.
