Hello,

I would like to be able to watch a network stream as live TV inside gbpvr.

Is there some api we can use to integrate a vlc client?

Regards

Good question. I'd like to see VLC as a renderer option, too. it has great plugin flexibility with deinterlacing options and more.

When playing live TV, VLC media player can do it smoothly without any hiccups, but GBPVR always seems to have jitter during fast action. VLC os open source, right? There must be a way to take advantage of their streamlined and refined display processing.

VLC is not directshow based, so wont ever be usable for playback or live tv in GB-PVR.

I'm sure you can already get playback every bit as smooth as VLC with a good combination of decoders and renderers.

There is, at least for the video and even audio decoding and post-processing part. It's called ffdshow.

You are right, I installed FFDSHOW 2 MPEG-4 and it's as smooth as butter now. The audio decoder even has the option I was hoping for: to output 5.1 channel AC3 from s/pdif.
Just have to smooth out the blockiness of upscaling and re-sync the video and audio now.
