I've just downloaded the Xmedia skin to take a look.

Not having a problem as i didn't install it yet but is there a way to get to the skin without having to install all the other stuff. I keep this system absolutely clean of anything i don't use daily.

I just don't see a way to install it without giving up my system to an installer and then having to go back in and hopefully get all that back out. I've been able to look at other skins without all this and it just seemed a lot of installing just to get a peek.

Tipstir:

I've taken your word for the install and gone ahead and let it install the skin only. It worked as you said :-) Thanks for the clarification.

I have to admit it looks pretty slick and you did a fine job. My wife says it's way too busy for her so it's back to the fat blue high res to keep peace.

One thing i did notice there was no folder for jukebox so when i brought it up it failed. I manually put one in with the background inmage and it worked fine but on the main menu it was the only plug without a little icon that comes up as you scroll thru the selections, i'd have put that in too but being very new to all this i have no idea where that would go. Just an observation.

I do have one question about the music panel for either you or whomever does that portion. Will it be upgraded at some point to use id3 v2 tags so that imbedded album covers will show? jukebox does that now and it's weird to see the correct cover there and scroll back to the main menu and see the default -no image available- message.

Anyway nicely done skin, even tho i won't be using it, it's very slick and consistant thruout and that gives it a very professional feel as you go from one plug or section to another.

Up until 2 minutes ago that's the only way i'd ever done it. It was easy to put in, look at, and take out. I know exactly what was put in cause i put it there.

I have to admit though that the installer worked well too. I didn't install all the tools, just the skin. I suspect that had i wanted any of the tools for the average user like myself it's probably a lot easier to use the installer as opposed to manually putting files in this or that folder and then getting all the shortcuts set on the desktop.

and i'll be happy to give it a try, thanks.

oh btw, the jukebox doesn't take a lot to support, so little i was able to get it with no trouble. All it needs is a folder with whatever standard background you use and one of those cute icons you use, i would have done that but i have no idea where to put it. Maybe i'll play with it just for fun and see if i can figure out where it goes.

I found it, you just have to put one of those task images in the same folder. you knew that it was me that didn't. Smile

The music panel i was asking about is the same one used for all music playing, weather it be jukebox, music player, albums, whatever. I assume it's the same one that's used by xmedia skins. They all hook into the music panel somehow. I was just wondering if the panel will support id3 v2 tags in the future. It would be nice if the other music players also supported the id3 v2 tags as well.

I already did it here. just a jukebox folder with two files. background.jpg copied over from the xmedia directory and a task image also copied over from one of the other directories. works like a champ.

I use the MVP and jukebox exclusively and except for a glitch with the initial install of 93.10 it's been flawless.
