My Pictures and music playlists

well ive pretty much done my pictures version 3, the current version im running now is very stable, there arent any bugs that im aware of (this is a different version than posted in the forum). and i only have one more thing to do, the music playlists.

so well here are the options
a) no playlists at all, let the user use a music plugin to handle this
b) keep it how it is in my pictures 2.x (ie a seperate filelist that you can switch too)
c) have a master playlist and play this everytime randomly (ie the songs are shuffled)
d) define a music folder and do the same in c) but with every music file in that folder (could be slower, would need an extra thread, c is a nicer programming option but d might be a better user interface option)
e) have a "folder.m3u"/".wpl" playlist and if you start that directory (or in its sub, it would do a recursive search until it finds a playlist) and then play that (probably in a random order aswell)
f) have an option when you are in fullscreen/slideshow to start a playlist from a list of available playlist. ie you push a button to bring up a popup menu (similar to the one in my videos) and it shows the options "Select Playlist", "Stop", "play" etc).


if you have any other ideas let me know, i probably like f) the best.

Really enjoy My Pictures 2, am looking forward to the next version. It's one of those plugs that just worked, no muss, no fuss, just works. What more could you ask!

how should i know? i dont have anything to do with that plugin, that was codemonkeys one.

by the way, last time i started the mypictures 3 - plugin from the forum i noticed, that the alpha-blending was stuttering...on what does this depend? overlay, vmr or is it a .net-question?

its just using the GDI library to do all of the UI stuff, so it depends on your processor, if you got a slow cpu its going to stutter, its fine on my 2.6ghz.

well now sub has released 94.8 i can start with beta testing, theres a couple of extremely minor bugs for me to fix in the next release, and implement the playlist feature, and update the skin (the most annoying part). anyway the beta should be out in about a week, so so far it looks like the music playlist will be a popup menu in the fullscreen display. if you dont like it this way, then vote for something different.

fyi the reason i was waiting was the RemoteKeys (or KeyboardKeys, or whatever sub called it) my pictures now lets you define the keys you use for the actions, just like gbpvrs core (very handy indeed).

will this mean a new release in every my-plugin or is it just mypictures? would it make sense to start skinning the plugin using the latest alpha?

yeah you can start skinning the alpha, nothing much has changed ( i removed "use blue for pageup/down" since using the keymappings xml file). eventually all the plugins will start using the same "engine" (i use that term loosely), just have to get around to doing it (every time i learn something at uni i discover something stupid i did when making these plugins, thread safety being one of them.... and the database..... oh well it works ).
