I can't import a recording made on one laptop to another laptop in NPVR v5.  This worked in v4.

My wife and I separately use a bank of HDHomeRun Tuners to record from our antenna.  Sometimes one of us of records a show that the other wants.  In v4 I copied the folder and its .ts file to a usb drive, loaded it into the recording directory on the other computer, and imported the file.  It appeared in the "What's New" list.

In v5, I go through the above and include the folder, .ts and .xml file of the recording but nothing imports.

Both laptops have the same folder structure and the recording directories are both called "E:\Recorded TV"

Is there a solution?

If you don't find a solution, I believe my app here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid549948 will work for you.

- make a backup copy of npvr.db3

- unzip into the NextPVR program folder

- delete NextImport.runtimeconfig.json

- execute from the command line

NextImport --import drive:\folder

If you are trying to keep them in sync, running this again will only add new files.

Try again, then post the logs. It’s likely just down to the paths in your xml files.

Sub

There is a fundamental difference between the recordings XML file and that produced by the Export Recordings function as pointed out here:

Disaster Recovery (nextpvr.com)

(Linux not Windows and Different subject but the SAME issue).

The XML file produced at the time of recording along with the TS file cannot be used, without editing its format and content, to re-import the TS file to the same or another system.

While I cannot speak to to the recording export/import process, my import program that I suggested earlier does read this file based .xml between systems and platforms.

i am really pleased that you were able to produce a program to read the XML produced along with the TS file, thank you. However if this XML file was the same format (and its not a long way away) as that generated by the Recordings Export process then both (either / or) could be used to import the existing TS file using the Import procedures already in the NPVR web app. What is the reason for the different format ? Wouldn't it make sense, and be easier for the end user, for them to be the same format ? It would then be possible to import all or single recordings as needed.

Sub would need to speak on it.

My take is tge file based .xml file is certainly smaller and more generic, it works with v4 and v5 and much easier for a user to generate.

The Import/Export are more specific to the system probably because it is as a backup and not currently an interchange format.

My point is that the XML file generated alongside the recording (in the same dir/folder) TS file is created by NextPVR but cannot, without additional editing, be used to reimport its associated TS file. Yes, the file is smaller because it only relates to the associated recording file but should be of the same format so that we can use the existing Recordings Import facility to restore it should this proved necessary.  It would also solve the original posters request. If it could be done in v4 then I would also argue it should be possible in v5.

Got it now, both you and the op want single file import working via the web browser. I am a command line guy so that seems like more work to me.
